A new catalogue on Icelandic children’s and young adult authors, along with participation in the Bologna Children’s Book Fair and increased support for translating children’s and YA books into foreign languages in 2026.

In 2026, the Icelandic Literature Center will place focus on children’s and young adult books in its promotional work abroad

In 2026, the Icelandic Literature Center will focus  on Icelandic children’s and young adult books in promotional work abroad. The aim is to draw attention to authors who write for children and young people and to present their works to foreign publishers.

A new catalogue featuring children’s and YA authors will be published in March and will serve as the foundation for promotion abroad, including at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair in April, as well as in Gothenburg in September and Frankfurt in October.

On this occasion,The Icelandic Literature Center will offer the following support for the translation and promotion of Icelandic children’s and young adult books abroad:

  • 70% of translation costs (up to 500,000 ISK), provided that the application meets the Center’s requirements. See more here .
  • Partial coverage of printing costs for illustrated children’s books published abroad, provided that the application meets the Center’s requirements. See more here .
  • Travel grants for Icelandic children’s and YA authors to promote their works internationally.
